Monday, October 19th was AutoCAD Civil 3d Blogger Day! Autodesk introduced the new Civil 3d 2010 Subscription Advantage Pack [SAP] in a webcast to a number of my fellow Civil 3d bloggers. As others have and will likely mention, the SAP release date should be the end of this week. The list of SAP features is long – long enough to be a full PowerPoint slide with a laundry list of new features. Tucked into the bottom of that list is a feature that I truly desire. Figure Properties.
Nothing exciting, you say. Well, Figure Properties in current 2010 is well, disappointing. It’s only saving grace as a dialog box is the potential it had.
Add Service Pack 2 and the new Subscription Advantage Pack, Survey Figure Properties fulfills that potential with a big leap forward in Survey Figure functionality.
Using the Survey Database, this is will allow you to RE-ORDER, remove, and add point to a Survey Figure. [There is probably more functionality, but it was a preview, not play time]
You can BREAK, and JOIN survey figures.
You will be able to “walk” a survey figure from the figure properties dialog box and watch the glyphs follow along.
There will be curve editing stuff (I just couldn’t keep up writing, tweeting, watching, listening, and pressing play on the DVR for the twins fast enough…)
I really look forward to more details and the chance to put these into play, rather, into work at the office. [Point Clouds tools, lots of transportation tools, stuff about windmills, sight distance and line of sight calculations and display, Surface from SHP Wizard, Roundabouts, Visualization tools, Breakline tools, and many many more.]
