Recent Documents Sorting

I struggled with this problem earlier this year.  My Recent Documents list always remained as an Ordered List, and that allowed DST files to float to the top of the Recent Documents list.   It took some digging, but I am much happier now.

The problem:

The desire:

Unfortunately, closing AutoCAD Civil 3d 2010 would never remember the “By Access Date” Setting after closing the program.   Autodesk Support helped me out.

The solution:

To change this registry key manually, first close Civil 3D 2010, open Regedit and locate and modify the Value Data for ‘DocumentGroupBy’ to ‘Date’ here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R18.0\ACAD-8000:409\Profiles\<<C3D_Imperial>>\Application Menu

Note: The above registry key is for the ‘C3D Imperial’ profile. If your preferred profile is different, locate the Application menu under that profile.

See the attached screen capture image "MRU_Sort_by_Access_Date_in_Reg.png" that shows the context for this change.

When AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 starts up, it will use the current value data for this ‘DocumentGroupBy’ value name.

This should be updating during normal use of Civil 3D. Check and adjust the permissions for your Windows user profile for this key if it is not being updated.
