A subscription treat

A subscription treat

Autodesk briefly announced during Civil 3d blogger day that they will be releasing Autodesk® Storm and Sanitary Analysis to subscription members as a download.  This is a North America offering for subscription members for AutoCAD Map and AutoCAD Civil 3d users only.  This product, as Dana puts it, was the product formerly known as StormNET.  [...]

AutoCAD Civil 3d 2011 – Highlights

AutoCAD Civil 3d 2011 – Highlights

Last week I was among the privileged few who were invited to attend Autodesk’s kickoff for the 2011 series of products.  Unlike the base product invitees, we Civil 3d blogger had a virtual meeting that spanned the globe. {that’s pretty cool just thinking about the global impact, if I say so myself…}  Here are a [...]

Autodesk previews today the upcoming release of  AutoCAD Civil 3d 2011 for a select few bloggers.

As the shield indicates, it will be 64-bit compatible!
Autodesk has also published the new features on their website.  For more information, check Autodesk’s here.
(Gosh darn it, Autodesk actually published features on their website prior to the bloggers)

Shortcuts & Civil 3d Project Templates

Shortcuts & Civil 3d Project Templates

There was an interesting question on the one of the Civil 3d groups on LinkedIn that asked about the _Sample Project directory structure that installs with Civil 3d.   Do I have to use those folders? Do I need to use these folders to store my project files? Is there any disadvantage to using a different [...]

Hydraflow Storm Sewer and Hydrographs

Hydraflow Storm Sewer and Hydrographs

Last week, I tweeted about needing Hydraflow Storm Sewer STM files for some testing.  While I have received some files at this time, I would love to get some more.  [See bottom of post]  However,  I am writing this post more to share something nice about the STM (Storm Sewer) and GPW (Hydrograph) files and [...]

General Line Label – Ideas

General Line Label – Ideas

General Line labels are a handy tool.  From labeling lines that are not parcels (or parcels as well), to featurelines annotation, to hand-drawn contours labels – General Line labels truly come in handy!

Recent Documents Sorting

Recent Documents Sorting

I struggled with this problem earlier this year.  My Recent Documents list always remained as an Ordered List, and that allowed DST files to float to the top of the Recent Documents list.   It took some digging, but I am much happier now.

Storm Network Pipe to STM Commands

Storm Network Pipe to STM Commands

Let’s expose a little bit of the magic on the AutoCAD Civil 3d 2010’s ability to import and export directly to the Hydraflow Storm Sewer STM file.  Kevin Clark’s post on Civil3d.com prompted this post.   I want to provide a little bit more of the background that is actually at work as it is simple [...]

Subscription Benefits

Since I am getting close to my annual subscription renewal time, let me share some of my perspective on Autodesk Subscription.  The benefits are wonderful – from e-learning to support, to new releases like the Subscription Advantage Pack.  As the contract administrator, I want my users to have access to as much training and support [...]

It is not a Sump!

Pipe networks are complex network of settings, parts and styles.  The prior practices of displaying the pipe and structure does not always help.  Have you wondered why your Structure appears to show a sump in profile?   The gripe is actually easy to fix.
