Civil 3D Interoperability – How are YOU Working with others?
Matt’s last post regarding Hydraflow applications and a few other articles I’ve read lately have added to the ideas that have been dancing around in my head regarding Civil 3D interoperability (or lack thereof!) with other application. There are hundreds of add-on applications for Civil 3D and you can find a long list of them [...]
Bye, bye AutoCAD Civil, we hardly knew you…
Autodesk announced today that they are discontinuing the short-lived AutoCAD Civil product. There will be no 2011 version of AutoCAD Civil.
AutoCAD Civil customers who hold Subscription contracts that are current as of April 20, 2010 will receive AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 when it becomes available. Customers with multi-year Subscription contracts will continue to receive releases [...]

Engineering 101: IDF Curves
In the series over at Civil3d.com, I posted an entry on Rainfall Intensity last year. I referenced the FHWA HEC-12 document that outlines the process to turn a handful of rainfall entries into the B, D, and E coefficients. Consider yourself lucky if your regulatory agency actually provide these number.
AutoCloud?
An interesting article came across my desk today. Turns out Autodesk Labs is running a VERY limited test called Project Twitch, offering its products as a web-based service. (Currently offered: AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, Maya. Why is Civil3D always left out?!?!) Today, we hear a lot about “cloud computing” and how it is going to change [...]
Low Impact Development
I am not sure why I am in such a great mood this morning. I doubt it was either the early rise to take my excited 13-year old son to an early morning cross-country practice, or the 1/2 day of work. My creative juices have been busy hammering away at a series of posts on [...]
who’s the BOSS?
Autodesk announced the acquisition of BOSS International assets at the end of August. Those assets that Autodesk acquired are; StormNET, RiverCAD and WaterNET software packages. This provides Autodesk a larger suite of civil engineering analysis tools to cover storm water modeling, river flooding, and water distribution modeling. The 2007 acquisition of the Intelisolve tools, Hydraflow [...]
